Color-coded flags at Jefferson County fire districts

Beginning Monday, March 24 Jefferson County Fire Departments will display flags notifying the public of the national threat level.

The color of the flags will correspond with the threat level issued by the National Homeland Security Office. The flags will fly on the poles outside all 21 Jefferson County Fire Districts.

This simple program will help the public become more familiar with the color code system and provide a visual reminder of the threat level. All fire departments share an important responsibility in reassuring public safety during this time of threats to our national security. The Jefferson County Fire Service is participating at the request of the Kentucky Fire Chiefs Association.
