Kempthorne orders state flags at half staff

Governor Dirk Kempthorne has ordered flags at state facilities lowered to half-staff in memory of Nampa Police Chief Alan Creech and Nampa reserve police officer Mark Hupe, killed in a plane crash near Atlanta Friday night.

The Governor's directive came after official confirmation of the identities of the two people aboard the aircraft.

"The entire state mourns the loss of two men who served their community and their state with pride and distinction," Governor Kempthorne said. "I've known Alan Creech for years, and he was one of the most outstanding law enforcement officers anywhere in Idaho. Patricia and I extend our deepest condolences to the Creech and Hupe families and ask all Idahoans to keep the families in their prayers." The flags will be flown at half-staff until sundown Friday. There will be a public memorial service Thursday morning at the Idaho Center in Nampa.
