Returning U.S. Soldiers Deliver American Flag to NSTAR CEO
NSTAR employee soldiers returning from duty in the Middle East presented today a flag that flew over their base in Kuwait to NSTAR CEO Thomas J. May. In a ceremony marked by joy, heart-felt words and warm applause from gathered employees, May accepted the flag on behalf of the company and its 3,200 employees that have done so much to support citizen soldiers and their families.
I proudly accept this gift on behalf of my NSTAR co-workers, said May. I know I speak for all of them when I say, it is we who are grateful to you. We appreciate the very hard work you have shouldered, the discomforts you’ve endured, and the dangers you have faced … all in the name of serving our country and us. You’ve brought honor to your families, to our company, and to our nation. And we’re so glad you have safely returned from those duties.
Sergeant 1st Class Steven Jerome, 368th Engineer Battalion of the US Army Reserves, said, The frequent care packages from NSTAR employees were a welcome treat. By extending our wage and family health benefits, NSTAR ensured that our time away, although an emotional hardship, would not be a financial hardship as well. Thank you NSTAR, and our fellow employees, for all that you do to support our troops.
To date, twelve NSTAR employees have been called to serve our country during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Nine have returned from their overseas duty, two currently remain in the Middle East, and one is scheduled to deploy with his battalion in the near future.
