US flags, known the world over!
US flags are very important to the American people. They stand for the things that Americans believe in and fight for. They are used to hold the people together as one unit during times of turmoil, and call young countrymen together when their country needs them. Americans are very patriotic and their national flag is a symbol of freedom and fairness and honour that they respect. US flags are flown all over the world displaying the pride Americans have even when they are not at home. The reaction from other nations is not always as positive. There are countries that detest the Americans and take out their hostility by burning the flag.
National US flags are very colourful proudly displaying red white and blue stars and stripes. The number of stripes and stars has changed over the years. It began with a simple design that was the basis for the flag we know today. This flag has evolved over the years with changes being made as the country grew and the number of states increased. This flag now contains one star for every state in the nation.
There are many kinds of US flags other than the national Stars and Stripes. Every state has it’s own flag reflecting the nature of the area and it’s people. Police departments, fire departments and all units of the military and public service have their own flags. The number is almost endless and the colours and design of them is an art in it’s own right.
