Flying the USA flag brings forth great surges of patriotism amongst people that hold her lands and beliefs dear

The USA flag is governed by many guidelines and cannot be legally flown with disregard for these laws. In the United States of America, the flag is more than just a pretty piece of cloth. It makes a statement about the American regard for freedom, loyalty and allegiance to their country and responsibility to the world. That is why the regulations regarding flying the USA flag are taken seriously. When people see the flag it is more than just a pretty sight. One area that is regulated is when the flag is allowed to be flown half-mast. There are occasions like the death of prominent figures or great national tragedy when this is allowed. These occurrences are infrequent and usually you will see the flag flown at the top of the staff.

It is also frown upon if you desecrate the USA flag in any way. It is never permitted to make contact with the ground. This is seen as a great dishonor to it. If another country wishes to make a statement displaying their anger at the politics of the US, they have been known to burn the flag in large public protests. It is felt to be an easy way to thumb their noses, so to speak.

American children pledge allegiance to their flag from the day they start school to the day they finish their studies.
